There
is something beautiful about setting foot in a city you've only seen in
pictures. You can walk down the sidewalk with your hair in a mess and
wearing your favorite jeans. Nobody asks any questions; no one judges you
because they've never seen you before and have no preconceived idea of
what you should look like. You just smile at the people as they pass and
they smile back. No one says a word
except a simple "excuse me" or "hello", but there is a connection. You
are enjoying the sights, taking deep breaths of the morning air, and
sipping your latte' just as some of the other people are doing and they notice it and so do you.
And it's really beautiful because that connection can go a long way; maybe... just maybe you sit down with one person out of the crowd and pass a couple words along and then never see the person again, but you were open and for once you did not have to pretend. They made you smile and you made them laugh... and both of you carry that conversation in the subconscious part of your brain for the rest of the day.
You have an anonymity in this city and people are willing to leave that in place; you can turn the world upside-down and watch from the outside in. You are a stranger in a strange place but the lights feel like home because all that matters is that you are here, right now. You can watch the lights turn on across the city as darkness falls, or you can watch the sun rise and see how the city slowly awakens from its sleep; you can take a walk through the park or catch a cab and go shopping. No one knows who you are and you have no idea of where you're going and that's okay. >>

I
think it's beautiful to be a stranger sometimes. and honestly? I wish I was in a strange city right now. With a cup of coffee and just walking down the streets.
I've got a real hankering for the city life. Just for a while... just for a bit; I long for the anonymity.

I made these croissants today... and I am super happy with the result. You have to understand what an accomplishment this is for me. See, I'm not a very good baker and when I make something it rather often doesn't turn out. So... YAY! *high-five* I'm really happy with how they turned out.
check out the awesome recipe here.
