I saw someone today staring back at me in my mirror. I saw eyes that are so good at hiding what they feel; I saw a smile that isn't always real but shows itself without a thought whenever the people she loves are around her. I saw a heart that was beginning to change and grow bigger and yet I saw that part of her was closing into darkness; she was setting up a wall to protect herself against everything that had ever hurt her. And I could see that although she liked to show the world she was fearless and that nothing could daunt her, she was afraid to love again.I saw a mixture of fear and excitement in her as the future began to unfold and I saw her becoming strangely independent and outspoken yet her need for security and family was as real as ever. And in that face staring back at me, I saw a baby bird who desperately wants to try out her wings but isn't sure that they will hold her. I saw hope and desperation, love and lack of love >> I saw light and darkness.
I saw an energy that could be put to use for either good or bad. I saw a need for adventures but also a desire to never leave. I saw a dream and found the heartbreaks; and I swam in the ocean of His love written on her scars. I saw the stars in her and touched the intricate thought process' of her brain.
But before I could turn away, I saw the darkest part of her heart with all its secrets and lies and I realized that Light was knocking at the door. I saw the struggle on her face; I saw the war that was going on inside of her. The tears fell and they were the key that unlocked the door, sending the Light pouring into every crack and driving out the darkness.
I finally turned away and the reflection disappeared.
