I've been noticing how much I get caught up with my own life. My struggles, my joys, my pain... but what about all the other people on this planet? I'm not even talking about all the poor souls in faraway countries, I mean right here, right in your home town... how many are there that feel just like the picture? You know my name, not my story. You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through. How many times have I judged a person by their appearance, not even trying to look past the facade they put up? Too often, I know. I'll look at a guy in nice pants (that aren't falling off, I might add) and a nice shirt.... his hair is styled, and he seems friendly; he even has a smile on his face. I right away am at ease. I feel that somehow that person must be doing alright... but what if we started to look past what meets the eye? What if we started to ask God to give us His eyes for people? Wouldn't that start a revolution? You bet. It would be the *show them Jesus* revolution.
I don't mean go into town and wave a giant banner that screams loudly in pink letters, "Jesus loves you!" (although there may be nothing wrong with that) I don't mean going into a parking lot with a mega phone, and shouting to the people that their loved... I don't mean strutting around a store feeling as if you are better than everybody else...
What I mean is, when we go Wal-Mart and see a person whose eyes scream at you a story of pain why don't we just smile... sometimes it's easier just to lower your head and look away, instead of meeting their hurt-filled gaze, I know, but what would Jesus do? Let's show everyone we meet that we care... let's be HIS hands and feet. Ask God to fill you with Him... He will, you know. :)
This is a big challenge, and I want to start working on this again. (I still do it now and then, but I want to become better at it...) When you meet a person like that, and then go home, let's pray for that individual. Ask God for a burden for all the people around you... even those you don't know, and then lift them up to Him.
Let's show them Jesus; who will join me?
