of life

Flying chickens? cough cough. It appears so.

The weather turned hot on us and I am finally starting to believe that it's summer. The lilacs are turning brown and the chokecherry blossoms have died out; now the fruit is being formed and ripening. It's hard to believe that it is already June and I'll be turning seventeen soon. A couple weeks, even days ago, I would have said that the thought of the future was frightening, but now... it suddenly doesn't seem so scary anymore. Maybe it is the early morning talks I've been having with Jesus but He definitely did something to my heart; and I realize that I am sheltered in His wings no matter what may come >> His love will never fail. wow.
I've been having iced tea and ice cold lemonade, a caramel frappe' was on the menu for today as well, and although I don't care much for the sweltering heat I must say that I am enjoying summer so far. I love the chilly mornings and evenings, the pastel colors of sunset, I love the lighting in the daytime, and the slight relief one can find sitting in the shade. I love the fact that I can start wearing light shirts, flip flops, and light skirts//capris everywhere. I love the summer nail polish colors and the songs that I can play on the radio with the windows completely down. Owl City's "Good Time" of course. :) I've been working on my novel and getting to know my characters better, and it's been amazing actually. Ever since I started on this journey of meeting my characters and "sitting down with them" so to speak it's like I've been transported into their world. I find I am so excited to start writing seriously again and this novel is going to be my biggest challenge, but I'm ready for it, and isn't that the feeling that summer gives us? That we can do anything if only we try?

About my pictures:
I am waiting until I buy a new ribbon for my typewriter, but isn't he so handsome? Meet John Hamish Watson. ;) I also am playing the piano at my teacher's church this Sunday (I'll be doing a duet with my her) and although I've been doing it for awhile now getting up in front of hundreds of people is still stressful and nerve wracking, but I am beginning to enjoy it more and more. oh, and flying chickens? .... yeah.

I hope you are enjoying the elements of summer as much as I am.

  1. love this!!! and I love that you named your typewriter after one of our favorite and dearest of characters. ;) it just seems fitting that both of our handsome Royals should be named after British telly, eh? *smiles* xx
