a quiet place...

It wasn't that she was discontented with where she was at... this was where she was meant to be in this time and place and yet days of bitter cold and an icy wind had driven her to wish for a quiet place... a quiet place to clear her head. a place by the sea and the beautiful mountains.
She felt like life was going by too fast and that there were so many decisions to make; memories to be captured and recorded, and things to be said and done. the decisions were hard to make because after all, she is only human and to decide what is best is never easy when one cannot see into the future. Yet with the help of those older than her and the ever faithful guidance of her Heavenly Father those choices will be made, and the memories, well... those are difficult as well, because they bring back thoughts of time gone by... of a time when things were simpler.

and with this place where she is at it feels that everyone is asking, "how are you?" and "what is happening in your life?" and the response hiding deep within her heart seems to be completely locked away, and the answer she gives is mumbled and it is not only because she isn't sure that she knows, but more that she has no idea how to express exactly what it is in her heart because at the moment everything seemed to be changing. life. people. circumstances. relationships. even her journal seems to be suffering... for days go by without a single entry...

and as she sat in her room staring out the window at the brown bits of grass poking through the thin layer of snow, she realized that she was grasping at the remains of things that once were. things that were meant to be in the past... to be let go. because everything changes. that is life. and she realized that she was holding on to the wrong thing... because Jesus never changes and she should be holding unto His hand. For He remains the same. forever.

yet the time has come that it feels like she needs a break. not from the change, for one can never run away from that, but simply a place to be still. a place where her heart can be widened and refreshed. cleansed, and filled with the sweetness of His love. a place to enjoy the tranquility of silence...

       a quiet place.
