Dear friends,
Lately I have been contemplating the truth that God is my Defender. I so often think of my Heavenly Father as just that- my Father. I'll think of Him as my Saviour, the One who dumps my sins into the sea and remembers them no more when I plead for His forgiveness, the One who always listens when I am burdened, and sad... but my Defender? It says in Psalm five verse 11;
"But let all those rejoice who put their trust
in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them."
I find this absolutely captivating.
Jesus, the beloved Son of God came down to earth, walked among the people, died, and came back to life. The same Lord, and Saviour is now telling His children that He is going to defend them... in every battle, in every temptation, every fear, and every accusation.
Isaiah fifty-four verse seventeen says;
"No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper
And every toungue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righeousness
is from Me.."
is from Me.."
Our God is a strong tower in times of trouble; a refuge in times of storm, a Helper in times of bewilderment, a Father to the fatherless, a Saviour to the lost... and the Defender of our souls.
"I will wait for You, O You his Strength; for God is my defense." -Psalm 59:9
No battle is too ferocious, no situation too great, no cry goes unheard- God is our defense.
I so often forget this, and just go on so helplessly, being afraid of the attacks that are sure to come against me; afraid that I won't make it... when all the time God is right there, offering to be my Defender: to fight for me.

Amy, wonderful truth in this post! It will help me look at our Father in a whole new way, and help me pray. Thanks for the encouragement!
